County breaks ground on new French Valley Library
Dignitaries, city and county officials, along with other interested parties, made their way to the northeast corner of Winchester and Skyview roads in French Valley Friday, Jan. 10, for a groundbreaking ceremony for the new French Valley Library.
“The central location of this new library in the French Valley community will be valuable for everyone, no matter your age,” Riverside County 3rd District Supervisor Chuck Washington said. “Every time I take my grandkids to the library, I think I’m just as excited as they are.”
The new library features a 25,000-square-foot, single-story facility on a 206-acre parcel and a contemporary design to meet the growing needs of the French Valley community.
“The libraries of the 21st century have become essential resource centers with specialized programs for students, seniors, veterans, business owners, jobseekers and more. When a library is built, the entire community benefits,” Washington said.
The new library will include space for a large collection of books, movies and other media materials, a teen and children’s area, a 25-seat multiuse community room, group study rooms, technology areas with charging stations and what the county is terming “opportunity rooms” for pop-up exhibits and other programs and events.
The new library, which should be finished in spring 2021, will also offer an outdoor reading and study area.
